I have managed to install ntfs-3g and I can use my test ntfs partition as root, but I want to write on the ntfs partition as user also, how do I do.
I have this in fstab now:
/dev/hdb1 /media/hdb1 ntfs-3g umask=000 0 0

Entry for /etc/fstab when using ntfs-3g:
Code:
/dev/hdb1       /media/hdb1     ntfs-3g         silent,umask=0,no_def_opts,allow_other   0   0

Greetings,
Chris

I have tried that before and did it again now and still only root can write

Now I chanched the permissions for the map "hda1" under "media" and now it works.

Now the next problem:

How to get this in under "storage media" in my homefolder. I can access hdb1 in the filesystem under "media" but under "storage media" hdb1 is shown as "12G Media" but there is nothing mounted.

Which version of Kanotix are you on? When dist-upgraded last?

Chris

Seems that you have manually created folders in /media or changed their permission/ownership - you should delete them all. Usually then hal/udev takes care for properly creation of those folders, and does the necessary steps to put links for you in "Storage Media".

I can't delete the folders in /media because the most of them ncludes mounted partitions, I already manage to delete some files before I thoght about that (nothing important)
Maybe I wait with this until Kano release the final 2006 01 then I can do a new install
