Software - How to install vdr-plugins via apt?

Titel: How to install vdr-plugins via apt?
I have Kanotix 2006.1 RC4 and so vdr 1.4.3. I want to add subtitles-plugin, because I live in FInland Winken If I add the e-tobi repositories in the sources.list and run

apt-get install vdr-plugin-subtitles all goes fine, but...

It seems that the version of the plugin is wrong (old) and so it's not listed (because it's not compatible) when vdr starts. What repository I should use? Also if I try to compile the pugins from source I get nowhere, because I don't know what is the *MAIN* vdr directory in Kanotix?

hi,

first use this script to install ct-vdr from etobi.
http://www.kanotix-vdr.huibuh.com/file- ... x-ctvdr.sh

then
apt-get install vdr-plugin-subtitles

Ok,

thanks for the advice. The script worked fine and now I can install plugins via apt Smilie but...

Now I cannot use my dvb-t tuner (Terratec CinergyT2) anymore. The button in the Kanotix-vdr menu, which tunes the channels only has something like "pvr analog" and when the vdr starts it gives an error something like "no ivtv device" I have figured that for some reason it assumes that I have one of the pvr-cards by hauppauge, which I don't.

So I have "3" problems:

If I use the latest RC4, I cannot use the dvb-t tuner (as described above)

If I use the build from May (2006.1, vdr 1.4.0) everything works fine, but I cannot install the plugins via apt.

If I use the fix-ctvdr -script on the build from May, I can update the plugins via apt, but my tuner doesn't work anymore (as above)

This is really driving me nuts Traurig Could someone please guide me to the right direction.

hi,

first try this
apt-get update && apt-get install ivtv-firmware

second,
apt-get update && apt-get install vdr-plugin-pvrinput

Ok,

I'll try that when I get home, but I'd like to ask you one more thing:

Why do I need the pvrinput, for I don't have a Hauppauge pvr-card?

I have a dvb-t tuner (usb).

I think I already have the pvrinput-plugin listed when the vdr starts. The version that actually works (but I cannot install the plugins via apt) doesn't have the plugin listed.

I'm trying to figure out how/why it works/doesn't work, so that's why I ask you again Smilie

hi,

if you have copied the right channels.conf to /var/lib/vdr
don't forget

chown vdr:vdr /var/lib/vdr/channels.conf

I managed to install several vdr-plugins via apt, but there seems not to be the pvrusb2 plugin I need for my Hauppage-PVR-USB2-Box.

Is there a repository with the pvrusb2-plugin?

If not: How can I manually install the plugin from source?

Thanks for any hints!

look here:

http://www.vdr-wiki.de/wiki/index.php/Pvrusb2-plugin

there is 3 links all the way down, nr. 3 is a patched version for kernel 2.6.18.
