Hi
Have been trying to turn on DMA on my AMD64 and I am getting this error message

setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
using_dma = 0 (off)

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

I have been trying to do this because I get

Warning DMA is turned off on your hard drive, this may slow down the fsck process

when I boot up

Change cable and/or master/slave mode.

The hard drive is set as master with the Jumper and in the BIOS. The cable seems to be connected.

I am not exactly sure what you mean?

Thanks

Rahish check if the cable has 80-wires. 40-wire-cable givs you this msg.

Operation not permitted? Logon as root and try again!
