Titel: software to monitor adsl modem
I have been looking for a programme to monitor my ADSL line so I can see where it is dropping and re-syncing etc there is a prog for windows and a link to a Unix version but it looks like it needs aap to compile it which I have never used and do not want to bork my system trying
http://dmt.mhilfe.de/

Does anyone know of a programme that might work.

Thanks

Is this any good - K ADSL Watch http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=10093

It's in the debian repos so you can apt-get it
Code:
apt-get install kadslwatch

Also, I think you can configure kde's built-in knemo to show various satistics of the connection to help you monitor it.

Thanks but Kadsl is already in Kanotix but it looks like it only works with Fritzbox, Knemo only shows lan/wan traffic. There are loads of application for network stuff but I am looking for something for the modem. DMT ( my link) looks like exactly what I want, it is German based and for the Speedtouch and I had hoped one of the German users may know of a Debian compiled version.

You mentioned you weren't comfortable compiling but according to the dmt-ux README, you only need to install aap (apt-get install aap) the run the command aap in the dmt-ux directory and that should do all the compiling and installing for you I believe.
I haven't seen any debian packages I'm afraid.

I had read the read me before I posted and I downloaded the aap-doc for a read, didn,t seem that clear to me, it may well be easy but once bitten twice shy.
