Installation - new users can't mount usb pen drives ryancw - 24.03.2008, 02:01 Uhr Titel: new users can't mount usb pen drives
I just installed RC6 on a dual boot, dual-hard-drive Dell. Kanotix is on sda2 and /home is on sda4. After installation, I did an apt-get update and then an apt-get upgrade. I also installed synaptic and iceape.
The first user I created, the one the installation procedure invites you to create, I called ryancwrf, and it is able to mount usb pen drives.
But additional users that I create via Kuser are unable to mount usb pen drives.
Any advice?
Thanks.

as root:
adduser username plugdev
(or add the user "username" in kuser to the group "plugdev")

Thank you, that helped. All my users can now mount usb pens.
I had already checked the plugdev box in the groups tabs for each user, but it hadn't seemed to to the trick. However, after I rebooted the machine, those changes took effect.
