Am not able to watch DVDs probably because of missing codecs. Had
this running with previous release out of the box or with using **censored**.
Can anyone suggest a simple install so that this is working again?

I'm not sure if this helps you but with kaffine in order to get codecs working you download the codecs package from the mplayer website. Then extract the gunzip package. Rename the folder win32 and move to /usr/lib
That will get most videos working in kaffine but like I'm say I'm not sure if that will help you with your dvd problems. Good Luck. |

HI ALL just installed kanotix thorhammer very good indeed everything works just not dvd playback codec should not be much off a problem
when i started kaffine but came up with this
DVD DRIVE cant check DMA mode permission denied or no such device /dev/dvd
so not sure what to do
once i get thet sorted then move to codec install

compaq deskpro en
p3 processor 733mhz
256 mb sdram
40 gig harddrive
nvidia fx5200 graphics 128mb pci
dvd drive is a asus quietdrive combo drive
