Titel: doesn't detect ethernet card or wireless card

Hi,
I am using kanotix live cd. I'm not able to get any of my network cards running.
'ifconfig -a' shows only 'lo'
Please note that I did 'vmlinuz acpi=off' at boot as it was complaining about some keystrokes being pressed at boot time due to which it just hanged and could not boot at all.
Is that causing the trouble? I am not sure!
I am more intersted in gettin my wireless card (Intel 3945ABG) working!
Doing a 'lspci' shows
Network Controller : Intel Corp : Unknown device 4222 (rev 02)
Ethernet Controller : Intel Corp : Unknown device 1092 (rev 02)
I donno if that makes any sense!

| I never had access to any Intel wireless chips (I do not own a laptop at all). But basically there is one driver included. If it does not work for you use ndiswrapper. Thats also included but requires the use of a Win driver. |

well, i just tried installing ndiswrapper and problems with that too!
in prereq it says that: ls /lib/modules/'uname -r'/build should have 'include' and '.config' files atleast.
so when i did that, it returns me blank. i checked the path, and the 'build' is a link to another path: /usr/src/linux-2.6.11-kanotix-9
which is invalid(there is no src directory under /usr)
so, basically , the 'make' of ndiswrapper doesnt work as well.!
Donno wht to do!

it is precompiled, you basically only need
su
cd /path/to/windriver
ndiswrapper -i driver-file.inf
modprobe ndiswrapper
iwlist s |

hey thanks, i didnt realize ndis was already there,
but, doing, 'modprobe ndiswrapper' returns:
FATAL: Modual ndiswrapper not found.
Am i missing something ?? |
