Hi
I downloaded Kanotix -2006-Easter-RC4 iso, checked MD5 sum to be ok & burnt to CD (Nero file verification showed that the burn was ok). When I booted using CD & got the following error at the initializing peripherals stage :- "Sound Server Fatal Error cpu overload aborting".
Sadly had to boot back to Windows.
Please advise what to do to get Kanotix working. |

I had the same problem which is caused by a faulty software package that does not work with VIA onboard sound chips. Workaround:
1. Edit BIOS settings to disable VIA onboard sound.
2. Boot off live cd and install Kanotix to hard drive (see Kanotix Manual for instructions).
3. Reboot computer.
4. Go to KDE Control Center and disable soundserver.
5. Reboot computer and enable VIA onboard sound in BIOS. |

Got Kanotix -2006-Easter-RC4 installed on hard disk & running.
